2012 is a science fiction disaster film directed by Roland Emmerich and starring John Cusack, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amanda Peet, Oliver Platt, Thandiwe Newton, Danny Glover, and Woody Harrelson. The film is based on the 2012 phenomenon, a belief that the world would end in a series of cataclysmic events on December 21, 2012. The film follows a group of characters who try to survive the global destruction and reach a safe haven in the Himalayas, where a secret project has built nine arks to preserve humanity.


The film was released on November 13, 2009 and received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the visual effects but criticized the script and the length. The special edition Blu-ray has a runtime of 158 minutes for the theatrical cut and 166 minutes for the extended cut. The Blu-ray disc is region-free and can be played on any Blu-ray player. The digital copy can be downloaded or streamed on compatible devices.
