i downloaded the driver from d-link (in my case it was -usb-n150-wireless-n-150-easy-usb-adapterrevision=deu_revb#downloads). The zip file includes both the install and the uninstall package, so i ran the uninstall and voila. icon and driver are gone.

I use batman-adv to have on mesh SSID (802.11s) running that carries the traffic of multiple VLAN networks through the batman interface. One VLAN is the management VLAN where I can access the AP's web UI LUCI, one VLAN is a corporate network and one VLAN is a guest network.
